One of the great things about Southern West Virginia is the number of wonderful fairs, festivals and special events that take place throughout our nine-county region. Attracting residents and visitors alike, these fairs and festivals provide the perfect setting for family outings and get-togethers with friends.

Country Roads Festival

September 20-21, 2008. Held at Hawks Nest State Park, Ansted, WV. Enjoy a gem in fall festivals! Arts, crafts, food and music.

Bramwell Oktoberfest

October 11, 2008. The Bramwell Oktoberfest is known for its excellent live musical entertainment, with traditional folk, bluegrass, blues and alternative artists performing throughout the day. Beer competition.

Oak Leaf Festival

Festival of the Rivers

August 30-31, 2008. c/o Flannigan-Murrell House Inc. This annual event showcases international, regional and local musicians including homemade instruments. Bluegrass, gospel, folk, rock and R&B musical performances. Located at Hinton City Sidetrack Park and Waterslide. Saturday & Sunday, Labor Day weekend. Free to public.

West Virginia State Water Festival

July 28 - August 3, 2008. This week-long state festival showcases historical water and frontier activities. Street fair, parades, fishing tournament, car show, coronation of Queen Mermaid, street dances, bateau boats and rubber ducky race. Downtown Hinton and the Rivers.

October Sky Fall Festival

Friends of Coal Auto Fair

19th Annual Appalachian String Band Festival

Ronceverte River Festival

Held the 2nd weekend in June at Ronceverte Island Park. Entertainment is free all three nights at the amphitheater and the Rubber Ducky race is Saturday afternoon.

Appalachian Coal Town Christmas and Light Festival
