Moncove Lake State Park
A 144-acre lake provides excellent fishing and boating opportunities. Campground, swimming pool, game courts and picnic area create the escape for everyday life. 48 camp sites available on a first-come basis. 25 sites with electric. Bathouses with hot showers available in-season from April - October.
Little Beaver State Park
Boating and fishing on an 18-acre lake. Recreation building, game room & picnicking area. 562 acres, boat docks, row & paddle-boat rentals, hiking trails, artifacts display & swimming beach. 1 1/2 miles off I-64, Exit 129 B, Shady Spring. Call for hiking trail information.
Gauley River National Recreation Area
Includes 25 miles of the Gauley River and 5 miles of its tributary, the Meadow River. These swift, winding rivers and their narrow gorges are protected by the National Park Service. For additional information contact the Canyon Rim Visitors Center at 304-574-2115.
Greenbrier River Trail
Beginning in Greenbrier County, this 76-mile trail is used for hiking, biking, horseback riding and cross-country skiing. Some areas are wheelchair accessible.
Plum Orchard Lake - Wildlife Management Area
2,953 acres, 202-acre lake, 43 rustic campsites. Fishing, hunting, picnicking, hiking. Boat launching and rental. Shooting range open daylight hours, 7 days a week.
Greenbrier State Forest
Over 5,100 acres of forested mountainous terrain. Thirteen seasonal vacation cabins, 16 campsites, hiking, swimming, picnicking, seasonal naturalist programs. 1 1/4 Miles South of I-64 at Exit 175. Major credit cards.
Carnifex Ferry Battlefield State Park
156 acres. Picnicking, hiking trails, museum, game courts & playground. Minutes from Summersville Dam & Lake.
Bluestone National Scenic River
A 10.5-mile section of the Bluestone River in southern West Virginia. Created in 1988 under the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act it is protected by the National Park Service as a free-flowing river. A small segment lies within Pipestem Resort State Park. The remaining portion is managed by the state of West Virginia as a Wildlife Management Area. Pipestem Resort State Park
A year-round resort with beautiful mountain views. Facilities include: 2 lodges, 26 cottages, 82 campsites, 18-hole golf course, 9-hole par three golf course, restaurants, stables, nature center, aerial tram, gift shops, pools, convention facilities and more. Accepts major credit cards.
Babcock State Park
28 seasonal cabins, 52 campsites, pool, hiking trails, horseback riding, gift shop, & other park amenities. The Glade Creek Grist Mill. Open mid-April to last of October. Accepts major credit cards.
Panther State Forest
7,810 acres, 6 tent/trailer campsites, fireplaces, swimming, fishing, hunting, picnicking, playground & hiking trails. Group camp facility with barracks, staff quarters, meeting rooms, kitchen & dining room. May be leased by any organized group. Located 10 miles off US Rt. 52.
Lake Stephen's - Park
Lake Stephen's Raleigh County Recreation Authority, with 272-acre lake surrounded by 1,900 acres of hardwood forest. Tent & RV camping, fishing, boating, swimming, biking, hiking, & horseback trails. Accepts major credit cards.
Glenwood Recreation Park
Located off of Rt. 20 between Princeton & Bluewell. 55-acre lake, picnic shelters, playgrounds, 18-hole miniature golf, tennis courts, rowboat and paddle boat rentals.
City of Beckley Recreation Department - New River Park
New River pool & waterslide, concessions, picnic shelter, horseshoe pits, basketball, playground & picnic areas, restrooms, RV & tent camping, fitness trail, tennis courts, large playing field, ample parking. Next to Beckley Exhibition Coal Mine & Youth Museum.
Bluestone Wildlife Management Area
17,632 acres, 1,815-acre lake, 330 primitive campsites, fishing, hunting, picnicking, hiking trails. Boat rental, game courts & horseback riding nearby. Open year round.
Berwind Lake Wildlife Management Area
Approximately 18,000 acres, camping, swimming, hiking, picnicking, hunting & fishing. 20-acre lake, stocked twice a year with catfish & six times with trout. Located 3 miles off Rt. 16 in War.
Bluestone State Park
Located on Bluestone Lake just South of Hinton, WV. Open year-round, 26 modern cabins, activities building and meeting room, 87 tent/trailer campsites, 50 boat-in-only campsites, marina, swimming pool, hiking, fishing, and gift shop. Accepts major credit cards.
Pinnacle Rock State Park
One of the most unique geologic structures in WV. This park offers a picnic shelter, scenic overlook, hiking & biking trails, & a 15-acre fishing lake.
New River Gorge National River
Encompasses 70,000 acres between Hinton & Hawks Nest State Park. Created to conserve & protect 53 miles of the New River as a free-flowing waterway. Visitors Centers are Canyon Rim (304-574-2115), on US 19 just north of Fayetteville & Sandstone (304-466-9192), at Exit 139 on I-64. Visitor information stations are also open during summer months from 12-5 at Grandview & 10 - 5 at Thurmond Depot. Call for hiking & biking trail information.
Twin Falls Resort State Park
Open year-round. Mountaintop lodge, championship golf course, vacation cottages, full-service restaurant, campground, picnic shelters, golf packages, special events. Five conference rooms. Call for hiking and biking trail information. Accepts major credit cards.
Hawks Nest State Park
We offer the only lodge perched on the New River Canyon, 31 lodge rooms, full-service restaurant, gift shops, aerial tramway, jetboat excursions, swimming pool, golf course. 1 hour east of Charleston on US Rt. 60, 7 mi. west of Rt. 19. Major credit cards.
