First Fridays After Five
July 3, 2009Spend a nice summer Friday evening enjoying outdoor & indoor live music, a tribute to West Virginia’s Blenko Glass, a United Way Fundraiser with an artistic twist and a taste of the Tour de France! First Fridays after Five will take place from 5pm to 9pm on Friday, July 3rd. This event is free to the public. Everyone is welcome! Don’t miss the fun!
Blues and jazz tunes of the local band the Jar Movers will perform at the intersection of Washington St and Jefferson St from 6pm to 9pm.

Harmony Ridge Gallery hosts a special art event for the United Way of Greenbrier Valley. Together with artist, Patsy Gullett, United Way is excited to present the first 30 editions of the “Lewisburg Academy Park Watercolor Sculpture”. The Forum and the Greenbrier Valley Bicycle Club present “Be A Tour Rider”. Take a moment to experience being a pro rider by jumping on a bike similar to a bicycle used in the Tour de France. 200 West Washington Street, 647-3100.

Bluefield – July 3 – Fireworks at Bowen Field following Bluefield Orioles baseball game
Charleston – July 4- Fireworks at Power Park immediately following West Virginia Power baseball game
Fayetteville – July 2-5 - New River Gorge Heritage Festival. Fireworks on the 4th at Fayetteville’s City Park, 10 pm
Hico – July 3 – 4th of July Celebration and Fireworks at Songer Whitewater
Summersville – July 4 – Starting at 6pm, live entertainment with fireworks @ dark at the Northside Development
Three Rivers Avian Center Public Tour Day
July 4, 2009Bring your family & friends! Admission is free but donations are very welcome. Three Rivers Avain Center's mission is to provide veterinary and rehabilitative care to WV's threatened wild birds. The Center will be open for free public tours from 1 PM to 5 PM.
Appalachian Traditional Archery Rendezvous

John Henry Days
July 10, 2009 - July 12, 2009The legend of how John Henry beat the steam drill has been told and retold not only in WV but all over the country. This three-day festival features unique events and demonstrations, children's activities and fabulous music entertainment.

Suessical
July 14, 2009Theatre West Virginia presents "Suessical" at Grandview Amphitheatre. July 14th is the first permformance of twelve. Scheduled dates are July 17, 22, 25, 30, and August 4, 6, 8, 12, 14, 19, 22.
The Plot of Seussical mirrors that of "Horton Hears The Who," centering on Horton the Elephant's endeavors to protect the people of Who-ville. Many characters from other Dr. Seuss books, such as the "Cat in the Hat" are featured in this musical.

"Terror of the Tug" Outdoor Drama
July 24, 2009 - July 25, 2009Written by Jean Battlo, outdoor drama based on coal mine wars & story of the murder of Sid Hatfield & Ed Chambers at the McDowell County Courthouse. Drama will also be performed on July 31 and August 1st.
The Dixie Swim Club
July 24, 2009 - July 25, 2009A comedy about a group of women who were all members of a college swim club. For 25 years they meet at a cabin at the beach. The play chronicles their lifelong friendship. Tickets $10 for adults; $7 for seniors (55 and up) and students (12 and under). Performances begin at 8pm.
Stoco Communities Reunion
July 25, 2009Annual gathering for all current & former residents of Coal City & surrounding communities held at the Old Stoco High School building in Coal City. Free food. Free entertainment.
West Virginia State Water Festival

High School Musical
July 28, 2009Theatre West Virginia Presents "High School Musical" at Grandview Amphitheatre. July 28th kicks off the first performance of five. Other dates are July 31st and August 5, 7, 9, 13 and 15th.
