Chili Night in Uptown Beckley (WV)

West Virginia State Water Festival
July 30 - August 5, 2012. This week-long state festival showcases historical water and frontier activities. Street fair, parades, fishing tournament, car show, coronation of Queen Mermaid, street dances, bateau boats and rubber ducky race. Downtown Hinton and the Rivers.

Appalachian Festival
August 26-28, 2012. Festival features annual Arts and Crafts Fair, A Taste of Appalachia, Hillbilly Breakfast along with various activities held at area attractions. Visit website for details and schedule.

Friends of Coal Auto Fair
July 20-22, 2012. Join us at the spacious grounds of the YMCA Youth Sports Complex in the mountains of West Virginia for the 2011 Friends of Coal Auto Fair - one of the state's fastest growing car shows. Hinton Railroad Days & New River Train Excursions

Bridge Day
October 20, 2012. Every third Saturday in October the New River Gorge Bridge closes to traffic and opens for the largest one day festival in West Virginia. Spectacular views, BASE Jumpers, and vendors offering food and crafts.

Bramwell Oktoberfest
October 6, 2012. The Bramwell Oktoberfest is known for its excellent live musical entertainment, with traditional folk, bluegrass, blues and alternative artists performing throughout the day. Both home-brew and micro-brew beer competitions.

September 1-2, 2012. c/o Flannigan-Murrell House Inc. This annual event showcases international, regional and local musicians including homemade instruments. Bluegrass, gospel, folk, rock and R&B musical performances. Located at Hinton City Sidetrack Park and Waterslide. Saturday & Sunday, Labor Day weekend. Free to public.

New River Gorge Challenge Weekend
A weekend of outdoor competition. Lafayette's Challenge, held in historic Fayetteville on Saturday August 4, is 28.5 miles of one of the most extreme whitewater, mountain biking and running on the East Coast. Sunday, August 5, brings family fun to the historic town of Thurmond with the Thurmond Triathlon, a family friendly beginner triathlon.

August 1-5. 2012. 22nd Annual five-day mountaintop gathering of string band musicians and fans from around the world. Concerts, contests, square dances, workshops and family activities. Rustic camping available.

September 21-22, 2012. 20th Annual Grape Stomping Festival at Kirkwood Winery off US 19 on Phillips Run Rd. Third Saturday and Sunday in September - 10 am to 6 pm. Grape eating and grape stomping competitions.

October Sky Fall Festival
October 6, 2012. "October Sky" author, Homer Hickam & Rocket boys will attend festival. Autographs and book signings, entertainment, food, hayride, games and more. All WV authors invited to attend. Model rocket launching throughout the day! See scenic southern West Virginia at its fall spendor.
